Have a look at these works by Detroit artist Noah Deledda. Made by hand, the artist uses pressure on the can to form dents and creases in its surface resulting in these amazing three-dimensional geometric patterns.
Deledda’s process begins by scratching away the can’s paint which “reveals a brilliant raw material of the otherwise ordinary consumer item.” He developed his techniques through years of trial and error and charges over two thousand dollars for each piece. That sure beats what we used to get when I did recycling with the boy scouts!
